Thank you for your interest in the iCademy award program. February 28th is the deadline for submitting the entrees

How to submit your Video

  1. Save your video in any of the following formats:
    QuickTime (.mov)-H.264
    Windows AVI (.avi)
    Windows Media (.wmv) - Windows Media 9
    MPEG-4 (.m4v/.mp4)
    * please make sure and keep a high quality copy. We may request a copy to be placed on IDEAL iTunesU.
  2. Name the video file with the following format videotitle_teacherlastname_school.
    eg historyofsedona_stevens_tempehigh. For longer titles you can abbreviate, but make sure to note that in the submission form.
  3. Copy the video to a CD or DVD (for classrooms or schools submitting multiple entrees you can place them all on one DVD)
  4. Print and complete the submission form - one form can be used for multiple teams
  5. Have students and their parents complete the student image and video release form
  6. Mail the CD/DVD, submission form and releases to:

  7. Send us an email to let us know that you have submitted videos so we will be looking for them. We need to receive the videos by March 2nd in order to review them.

How to submit your photographic essays

  1. If you have your entire class working on this we recommend that you select the best 5 - 7 to submit for judging.
  2. Save the essay (photo and text) as a .pdf, word or pages document. Please include the student's full name, teacher name, school/district, essay title. Here are some examples PDF 1, PDF 2.
  3. Title the files student last name, teacher last name, school name. eg. smith_jones_temepehigh. If submitting essays from multiple students (or teacher from same school) with the same last name include initials to identify each student’s work.
  4. Copy the photographic essays to a CD.
  5. Print and complete the submission form - one form can be used for multiple students.
  6. Have students and their parents complete the student image and video release form.

Video Transitions

Yes, there are a bunch of different types of transitions included with your editing software. That does not mean you should use all of them in your project. in fact if you watch television or movies the main types of transitions are cuts, dissolves and fades. Cuts are typically used for transitions within the same scene, dissolves and fades indicate a change to a new scene. Feel free to be creative, but also learn from the experts. The main point is to not let your transitions detract from the story.
